Trend following By Micheal Covel
To my knowledge, this is the first book of any use, that covers the topic of trend following in any meaningful detail. Contains very thorough and detailed analysis of trend traders long term successes, and exposes many weaknesses inherent in other systems. This is a MUST READ book if you are considering investing in any kind of managed fund, or embarking on system designing. Trend following by Michael Covel, explains how John W. Henry quietly become rich enough to buy the Boston Red Sox? How have traders like Keith Campbell, Bill Dunn, Jerry Parker, and Salem Abraham consistently generated immense wealth in bull and bear markets? The key is trend following, the only strategy proven to consistently make money........ |

Reminiscences of a stock operator By Edwin Lefevre.
Jesse Livermore won and lost tens of millions of dollars playing the stock and commodities markets during the early 1900s - at one point making the then astronomical amount of ten million dollars in just one month of trading. So potent a market force was he in his day that Livermore was widely believed to be the man responsible for causing the Crash of 1929. Probably the most interesting account of a traders life history ever published, and definitely the most highly ever recommended trading book in history. Highlighting the drastic ups and downs of Jesse Livermore, who was known as " the boy plunger " . After making and losing millions of dollars in the 1900s he committed suicide in the broom cupboard of a hotel. An utter genius at reading the market, but his failure to use risk control proved to be his downfall. My all time favourite ever book |

Market Wizards by Jack Schwager
Mr Schwager conducts a series of interviews with some of the worlds top traders, and successfully manages to procure the secrets of their successes, and the reasons for their past mistakes. Contains many lessons for a trader to learn, and reading it may remind one of his or hers own trading ups and downs. The traders describe in detail their stories of disasters and great achievements also. Some of the interviews are almost unbelievable...
My 2nd all time favourite book |

Technical analysis of the financial markets by John Murphy
This book is of bible shape and size, and is biblical in its significance. Probably the best ever written on the subject of chart interpretation. Very clearly written and easy to understand, this book is superb in every detail. Considered to be an all time classic by its readers. A one stop traders almanac, covering all aspects of technical trading-investment |

Rocket science for traders by John Ehlers
This masterpiece of mathematical genius, needs to be read perhaps three or four times before the concepts can be fully understood, and as Mr Ehlers states, the maths involved will be beyond the scope of most readers. A highly sophisticated volume, but none the less clearly explained if you have the patience to stick with it. The general theme centres around isolating the two conditions of trending and cycle modes that occur in markets, and convention cycle measuring techniques, such as Fast Fourier transformers, are blown away by Ehlers new cycle identifying formulas. He uses similar algorithms that occur in radar technology to demonstrate, that a cycle can really be measured, AS IT HAPPENS! Previous cycle identifiers need many more sampling points to produce much less accurate readings. A thorough read of this book will furnish you with many powerful new ideas to implement into you own systems. One useful hint however is, that if you want to copy his formulas into your pc from the pages, then don't waste your time because they contain errors. Instead just pay his small fee, and download the whole code from his website. (I speak from experience) As well as being an electronic and mathematical genius, he is also very helpful and fast to reply to emails. A Fascinating read |

Japanese Candlestick charting techniques by Steve Nison
Superbly illustrated book which removes all the confusion that a beginner may encounter when approaching the task of interpretation of candle charts. A huge boost to the traders tool box can be made with a thorough read of this volume. For me candlestick charts are the most informative to view, giving a very detailed at a glance history of what is really happening with a price.

Options futures and other derivatives by John Hull
Highly advanced volume, contains many complex formulas, explanations, and includes a free CD rom, with Excel spreadsheets for construction of your own algorithms. Not for the half hearted. If you trade options and warrants, and are getting ripped off by dealers giving you bad prices, this book will help you make a fair, and technical argument when a mis-pricing has occurred . Contains all the usual Greeks, Binomials etc. Very good for the mathematical minded trader. |
