How to use the real time program and simulation and database methods

Simulation and real time units must have SQL2008 installed

Selecting symbols

  1. Inside C drive there is a folder called IGSymbols ,this contains the downloaded excel sheets from IG index website.
  2. The initial sheet from them is called Tiered Margin IG Index
  3. From this sheet you can choose the stocks you wish by copy and pasting them into a fresh sheet which you can rename to suit.
  4. The format must be kept identical as the whole line must be copied

Setting up the databases

  1. Create 2 folders on desktop SIM_DATABASE_TEMPLATE  and RT_AMM_DATABASE_TEMPLATE
  2. The need to be used each time you change your database contents. ( a blank which needs to be populated, keep back ups of these)
  3. Inside the folder C:\Programfiles\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\DATA the actual "live databases" which get used by the simulation and the Realtime program are stored.
  4. To reset the database, you can copy the blank database into the MSSQL folder and then run the program to populate the databases.
  5. The realtime unit databases are called RT_AMM_DB and RT_AMM_DB_log both files must be changed to replace the databases
  6. The simulation unti databases are called AMM_DB and AMM_DB_log both files must be changed to replace the databases
  7. Once this is done, it doesnt need to be done again, unless you want to create databases for a different portfolio.

Preparing for a realtime monitor or simulation ( the procedures are the same, just using different databases)

  1. Open the program called for the relevant program, select the excel sheet you named
  2. Run through the buttons to do each tast and when all is done
  3. Run indicator builder for the relevant program
  4. choose the correct amount of days back
  5. When percent complete is 100% you can close the form and then open the realtime unit or simulation unit.
Chart ideas below. Top one is embedded from wikinvest, lower is using google api with old simulation data pasted from excel.
